This Black History Month, Race, Roots & Resistance (R3) is partnering with the UoM History Department to spotlight SteveMcQueen’s pathbreaking films on Black life, culture and politics in modern Britain.
First up, Dr Jack Webb will be facilitating a screening and discussion of the ‘Mangrove’ episode of Small Axe (2020) on October 19th at 4pm in Uni Place 1.218. For more information and to register for free tickets please visit our Eventbrite here.
Later in the month, Dr Remi Joseph-Salisbury and Dr Kerry Pimblott will be facilitating a screening and discussion of Black Power: A British Story of Resistance (2021) directed by George Amponsah and produced by Steve McQueen on October 26th at 4pm in Sam Alex A101.
